Last fall, University of Wisconsin Law School launched its Law Firm Giving Program to encourage the philanthropic spirit among UW Law alumni at individual firms and create friendly competition among the participating law firms.
The challenge ran from July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025. Seven firms participated in the challenge, raising $85,175. The top three participating firms were Reinhart (28%), Godfrey & Kahn (21%) and DeWitt LLP (17%). The firm with the most dollars raised was Quarles ($32,476.46).
Quarles Partner Dan Conley said that “UW has provided generations of Law students high quality educations and alums at Quarles appreciate the opportunities UW created for them, and the important role the school plays in continuing to educate attorneys who represent clients in public service positions and the private sector.”
He went on to add that, “alumni financial support is especially important considering ongoing cuts in funding and other financial pressures.”
“Such support helps continue to fund its important programs and meet its own high standards,” he continued. “Funding for scholarships, in particular, creates opportunities for students who would not otherwise be able to attend UW Law and lessens the impact of student debt on decisions as to where and how to practice upon graduation.”
Dean Dan Tokaji was “thrilled” by the vast support shown by so many participating firms.
“This program helps build Badger spirit within participating law firms, enhance our alumni network and provide much-needed support to UW Law School,” he said.
Over the past year, participating firms hosted events featuring Dean Tokaji, UW Law faculty and leadership to support participation and engagement.
“UW Law has some great new programs and initiatives, and it was exciting to share those,” said Tokaji. “I enjoyed engaging with our alumni and law firms to learn more about the matters they face in today’s market and work to develop future partnerships.”
The 2025 challenge began July 1. Visit the Law Firm Giving Program website to learn how you can become involved.
